End? Beginning? Celebrate!

My 7 year stint at The Weber Studio came to an end on Friday. It was a very happy and very sad day... the end of an era, but the beginning of a new one.  Working there has been a dream come true.  I started there just a few weeks after graduation, and am forever indebted to Tom Weber for providing the base of my crazy happy life. Work is such a huge part of life... I’m sure one can be happy even with a lame job, but it certainly  can’t hurt to have a job you truly enjoy.  I love to think about how things can be so different based on ONE decision in your life.  For instance, had I decided to take the job offer from the big firm...whoa, I could be a zillion different places right now. I wouldn’t wish to be anywhere but here (currently sitting in Robek’s Juice, having a pumpkin smoothie on a Wednesday morning in my pajamas!).  Every moment in my life has led me to this, to this gigantic jump into the life of unknowns.

The process of the last 7 years of working hard and being grateful about it, to this point where I have this opportunity to take off to travel, has no alternative path that could have made it any better.   There’s something about a great boss that you can’t put a number value on.  Tom is so selfless, always was willing to take the time to show you, teach you, include you, brag on you, challenge you, and I think most importantly, praise you.  There’s nothing like being told you’re doing a good job.  At least for me it makes me want to work harder.  It was also incredibly inspiring to watch his dedication to the work/clients.  Tom Weber should be the definition in the dictionary for Selfless.   I'm shameless in giving thanks for his being such a great mentor, boss, friend, and my newest word: soul friend.  Not my best friend, not my soul mate, but the best of both. And, for being so very supportive of my decision and even encouraging it, giving me the courage to put this travel plan of mine to action. The day I gave him notice was soooo hard, and I just soooo appreciate his always awesome attitude!!  Love you Tom Weber and will never never forget or stop being grateful for our awesome time here!  Weber Studio is going places and Im so happy I got to be part of it!!!

Tom and Leni Weber proceeded to throw me an extremely awesome (and incredibly unnecessary!) going away party.  Who throws a party for their employees that leave?? The Webers :)  It was utterly heartwarming, just the thought alone, that there was going to be a party...and then, I was super touched by how many current/past clients, consultants, GC’s, engineers and friends showed up to give regards.  Aaand of course....It had the perfect little finishing touch on it: funny face masks:)  Does Tom know me or what?  It added that extra spice that I love so much. hahah. I laugh just thinking about it.  And my parting gift?  Two of these said masks, meant to travel with me, to take a photo of myself with a random native in every country I visit.  I absolutely LOVE this gift...  I promise those pics will be goooood :)
